Flooding prevention in the city

How to face climate change

"A warmer atmosphere contains a higher percentage of moisture, which results in more torrential rain". This is how Brian J. Soden, professor at the University of Miami, explains extreme weather phenomena.

Violent thunderstorms and cloudbursts are now the order of the day even in Italy and, more and more frequently, cause landslides and flooding. The extent of these phenomena is not always predictable, and unfortunately no season is immune.

When the autumn season arrives, rainfall increases and trees shed their leaves. Debris and leaves settle and prevent rainwater from draining properly into the drains, which, in many cases, burst during the heaviest downpours, releasing water and mud into the streets.

It is essential to take precautionary action to maintain the proper functioning of manholes. Preventive maintenance of manholes and drains can stem flooding.

Municipalities, and authorities in charge, should include among their activities, in addition to timely mobilisation, a regular plan for cleaning and emptying sedimentation areas. The timing of interventions, especially in larger cities, can sometimes compromise prevention.

Turning to specialised companies is the right choice.

In order to make interventions quick, without compromising the safety of the operators, it is necessary to provide them with appropriate equipment that makes the most complex operations such as access to the 'underground' world easy.

Manhole covers, present on the roadway, are heavy, unwieldy, strongly anchored to the ground, and often encrusted.

Handling manhole covers is a complex and rather risky business.

Choosing the right equipment means reducing the duration of operations, improving the quality of work and the health of workers and reducing the costs incurred by companies. For every manhole there is a solution!
